Francesco (Frank) Schiliro
Francesco (Frank) Schiliro’ is a lecturer in Cybercrime and Cyber Security at ADFA/University of New South Wales, holding a Master of Research in Computing and a PhD in Computer Science from Macquarie University.
A retired Superintendent from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Frank's 34-year policing career began with the New South Wales Police Force in 1988, where he worked in criminal investigations before joining the AFP in 2003.
Frank's research at the University of Macquarie is dedicated to enhancing police effectiveness in crime response through advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence. His current academic focus is on the evolution of crime from cybercrime to hypercrime—an advanced and systemic form of criminal activity that leverages technologies like artificial intelligence to disrupt societal and legal norms.
Frank’s work explores the complexities of hypercrime, offering insights into its impacts and advocating for new law enforcement strategies to address emerging digital threats.
